Condemnations has continued to trail the alleged killing of a defenseless citizen of Nigeria identified as Collins, 23, by the Nigeria Police attached to Ozoro Area command in Delta State.
Berating the Nigeria Police on the extra-judicial killing, a legal practitioner and the administrator of Umeh Need Road, UNR, social media page, Afahokor Akpovienehe Duncan said, “Please let the world hear me on this. I condemn in strong terms the extra Judicial killing of an Isoko youth at Ozoro yesterday by men of the Nigeria police force.
“And i want the suspected killer of the boy to be arrested and prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.”
It would be recalled that, protesters mainly youths in Ozoro in Isoko North had embarked on a peaceful protest to the condemn the extortion spree and harrassment by security operatives in the locality.
According to Duncan, “The protesters from the videos we have seen so far, were only ” armed with placards ” and chatting solidarity songs and this is allowed under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
“The force used by the police to stop the peace protest was disproportionate, excessive and brutal.
“The boy’s killer or killers should be arrested and prosecuted according to the laws of our Land.
“My sincere condolence to the diseased family, Ozoro Community and Isoko youths in general”. He stressed.
